Description
Ardbeg 1974, bottled at 23 years by Signatory, comes from a period of the distillery that is now firmly part of whisky history. A single vintage from the early to mid-seventies already carries significance, and the 23 years of maturation place it in a mature register where time has shaped the spirit more gently and deliberately. This is an older Islay style in which peat smoke tends to settle into depth rather than sharpness, with a calmer maritime character and a more rounded, layered presence. The whisky feels defined by its era, its age and its bottler’s choice to capture this specific moment of Ardbeg, making it an intrinsically rare and historically interesting expression.
