Description
Ardbeg 1975 25 Year Old, bottled by Douglas Laing for the Old Malt Cask series, is an exclusive independent release with an outturn of only 363 bottles worldwide. Distilled in 1975 and matured for twenty five years, this whisky comes from a period when Ardbeg’s production was scarce and far removed from the distillery’s later reputation. The significance of this bottling lies first in its provenance and age rather than in overt stylistic statements. A quarter of a century in cask gives the whisky a calm, settled character, where maturity and structure take precedence. As an Old Malt Cask release from such an early vintage, bottled in very small numbers, it represents a rare and finite piece of Ardbeg history, valued primarily for its rarity, age and the fact that it can never be replicated.
