Description
Brora 25 Year Old, bottled in 2008 as the 7th Release, is one of the rare official expressions from the distillery’s long silent era. Brora closed in 1983 and remained shut for almost forty years, which gives the later official releases a clear historical context. This 7th Release forms part of the well-known annual Brora series that ran from 2002 to 2017. It was issued in 3,000 bottles and is the youngest whisky in that series, while still coming entirely from pre-closure production.
In the glass it presents a mature, composed and clearly structured style. Gentle peat smoke, maritime character, a subtle waxy texture and well-developed oak come together in a restrained, elegant manner rather than in an exaggerated way. Within the broader sequence of Brora releases, this 25-year-old holds an important place as a genuine representation of classic Brora spirit, created long before the distillery was restored and finally reopened in 2021.
