Auchentoshan 5 Year Old “Glentoshan” from the 1970s, produced under Eadie Cairns, comes from a very different era of the distillery and carries the character of that time clearly. Bottled young, it shows a direct, honest Lowland style where the spirit is very much at the centre. The lighter nature of Auchentoshan is still there, but with a firmer malt core, gentle sweetness and a straightforward structure that suits this age. Part of the appeal lies in the historical context and the “Glentoshan” presentation, offering a glimpse of how Auchentoshan was experienced several decades ago.
